The Best Tips for Serving and Enjoying Wine

Did you know specifics like your wine glass, how it is stored, and the temperature of the wine can determine its taste? Here are a few serving tips for the next time you enjoy your wine!

Top Tips for Serving Wine

Size of the Wine Glass

The size of the glass is important because it affects how much oxygen gets to the wine. The more oxygen that gets to the wine, the more it will open up and reveal its flavors.

A smaller glass will allow less oxygen to get to the wine, while a larger glass will allow more oxygen to get to the wine. If you are serving a lighter wine, you may want to use a smaller glass so that there is less of an alcohol kick.

Alternatively, if you are serving a heavier wine, you may want to use a larger glass so that there is more of an alcohol kick. Ultimately, it is up to you to decide what size glass you want to use based on the type of wine you serve and your personal preferences.

The Temperature of the Wine

The temperature of the wine is also important because it can affect how much flavor is present in the wine. Warmer temperatures will bring out more fruit flavors, while cooler temperatures will bring out more earthy flavors.

White wines should be served at a cooler temperature than red wines. For white wines, 55 degrees Fahrenheit is the average serving temperature.

Red wine should be served between 60 and 68 degrees, and white wine should be served between 45 and 50 degrees.

Store Your Wine

Finally, it is important to store wine properly. Wine should be stored in a cool, dark place. It should also be stored upright so that the cork does not dry out and allow air to get into the bottle.

Also, wine should not be stored for more than a few years, as it will start to lose its flavor. Wine can also be stored at room temperature for about six months. Some of the worst places to store your wine include, on top of the refrigerator, near the oven, on the counter, or near a window.

Sip Your Wine

Enjoy your wine! Savor each sip and take your time to enjoy the taste and aroma of the wine. Let the wine breathe. Pour your wine into a glass and let it sit for a few minutes before you drink it. This allows the wine to “open up” and release its full flavor potential.
