Red Wines

First, let’s start with Red wine. Red wine is made from red grapes. The skins of the grapes are left on during fermentation, which is what gives red wine its signature color. Red wine is also typically fuller-bodied and has more tannins than white wine. Tannins are those bitter compounds that can make your mouth feel dry. They come from grape skins, seeds, and stems, and they can also be found in oak barrels. Red wines are typically aged in oak barrels before being bottled, which also contributes to their flavor profile. Our owner, Vito, describes red wine as “full-flavored.”

Rosé

And, of course, there’s always rosé. Rosé is made from red grapes, but the skins are only left on for a short time before fermentation, which gives the wine it’s signature pink color. Rosé wines are typically lighter-bodied and have fewer tannins than red wines.

White Wines

White wine, on the other hand, is made from white grapes or red grapes that have had their skins removed before fermentation. This is what gives white wine its characteristic light color.

White wines are typically lighter-bodied and have less alcohol than red wines. They also tend to be more acidic, which can make them seem sharper on the palate. White wines tend to taste more fruity and crisp flavor.

The best snack to have while you are drinking wine is cheese and crackers. Why? Crackers help to cleanse the palate while absorbing some of the alcohol.

Final Thoughts

So, which one should you drink? It all depends on your personal preference! If you’re looking for a full-bodied wine with complex flavors, then red wine may be your best bet. But if you prefer a lighter-bodied wine, then white wine is probably more up your alley. Next time you are at Acquaviva, try our wine tasting experience!
